Established in 1936, Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) is a leading institute of public education in Mexico. Our mission is to promote education opportunities for everyone, and to help contribute to the social and economic development of Mexican society.We’re also one of the largest public universities in Mexico and one of the only vocational schools in the world with 19 technical high schools, 27 undergraduate schools, 20 research and higher education centers, and 16 centers for continuing education. We specialize in engineering, physics, mathematics, new technologies, medical and biological sciences, as well as social sciences, and are currently ranked the third best university in the country for engineering and technology according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019. Our main campus is based in Mexico City, and we also have another 82 research units located across 23 other states in the country. Almost every course at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional is taught in Spanish. However, we do have some English-taught course which have limited spaces. We welcome approximately 172,000 students across our high school, undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as on average, 100 international students each year. With more than 1,300 laboratories, over 150 workshops and 73 libraries, we aim to offer the best facilities and services for our students.
